Default Exotic surroundings with a domestic feel?

I read an article about Coco Bay Estates in Costa Rica. It sounds like a good investment as it is attracting many westerners, but I wonder about the wisdom of investing in large residential projects.

Since a company is behind the development, I would think the risks might be greater than if you invest in a single property that is part of an existing neighborhood or business zone.

Is it better to stick with individual opportunities, or is it safer buying into large, new projects?
