Default The new deal

Soon after the great depression of the 1920's Americans were offered what was called the new deal. We need another new deal cause this one stinks. We have become wage slaves due to current interest regulations and inflation. A stable economy controls profit according to growth and that is not being done with today's economy. A stable economy does not make people rich quickly but by hard work and effort over generations, as it should be.

A great example would be to start a local fast food resturant that is to be a replacement for Mcdonalds or something like that. Instead of paying a mega-corp for that convience food, paying a community member is a better idea. Someone who lives, works, and shops in the same community you yourself are spending money.

I believe Obama will make things right. Usually local community shops are more expensive than corporate ones. On the short term, you gain by shopping at corporate mega brands. On the long term, the local economy loses.

I completely agree, the US needs to be more focused on the microe conomy rather that the super-sized Wal Mart mega economy that is crippling our country. I have found that in my area a great way to avoid said "evil" business is to use the local farmers market to stock up on food and supplies. While you may end up spending a little more, at least you know the money is going back to the community, and by giving them your business, they can they have the opportunity to expand their business. Hear hear to a NEW new deal!

I found farmers markets to actually be cheaper if the food at them is locally grown. For example tomatoes at the supermarket are about $2.99 a pound. But at local farmers markets they range anywhere from 99 cent to $1.59 when in season.

Who do you propose to start this small-scale fast food joint that will compete with the big chains?

Anyone in a community with a little business savvy and a desire to better their local economy can do this. All you would need to do is come up with a fresh concept to get people away from the stale fast food chains that are already out there. People are starting to realize that we need to be spending more money over here supporting one another, and I think if a lot of people start opening these sorts of businesses we would be on the right track.

Good idea! Then I think its the responsibility of the federal government to encourage and protect micro-economies like the small farmers. Technical and marketing assistance is something that might need to be look up to. Such will help small farmer compete with corporate one's when it coes to selling their produce.
