Default Why are foreclosed homes in such a bad condtion

My realtor sent me some pictures of foreclosed homes under $50,000 and they all share the fact that they are in horrible conditions. One home is just riculously messed up. The owners have tossed all furniture upside down , there are piles of clothes everywhere and there are feces in many rooms. Looks to me that the owners are mad to get out and make a mess on purpose?

Yes your exactly right. They are angry and they have a right to be. Sad for you or anyone else who has to deal with that anger at a later date.

You are going to find worse than what you saw in those pictures - investing in foreclosures is definitely an "at your own risk" proposition. As elvenrunelord said, these are homeowners that have put money into a house they could no longer afford, and they are MAD - and rightfully so. Most of these places are going to be a mess, and almost none of them will have appliances or any special features. I would steer clear...

The question you should be asking is why do people leave thier items in their home? This is something I don't understand. I think the law should be if you don't clear your property then you will be penalized.

No one wants to lose their home and when they do they will take all they can and leave it in horrible condition. It happens.

Yes, people are angry to lose their home, so then the "If I can't have it, nobody can have it" attitude kicks in. There was a house here in our area that was foreclosed on. The owner snuck in at night, plugged every sink & bath tub and left the water running...

People do get angry that they are loosing there home..I am sure you would too. Unfortunately many take it out on the furnishings, but you must remember that this mess can be thrown away and any damage is not usually detremental to the foundations of the building, it is just cosmetic and easily resolved.
