Default Anyone buy more than one house?

Is there anyone here that has experience buying more than one house? Buying one, selling it, buying another, and so on. Why did you do it, and how was it.

Well my brother got into property investment when selling his first home the sale fell through but he had already found a house that he set his heart on so he converted his original mortgage to a buy to let mortgage and easily found a tenant and moved into his new home. A big advantage of doing this is that you know the house that you are selling you know its maintenance history, the neighbours etc and you have already spent out on the purchase costs of solicitors and stamp duty buyers tax so its quite an efficient way of building up a property portfolio plus in the UK there is no tax to pay on selling a property that you have lived in within a certain amount of time.

That sounds like a pretty good success story. Nice bit of info about the tax free sale condition.

I've bought and sold several in my lifetime. Own a couple now. Really not interested in owning more....trying to lighten my burden really.

There were promotions going on where I live (Southern California) where, to get people into homes they were offering 'buy one, get one free deals'! People who bought million + dollar homes were also getting rowhomes and run down/foreclosed upon shacks in another part of town as part of the deal. From what I heard no one was really taking them up on the offer, but it was an interesting proposition nonetheless
