So what are the scams I should be on the lookout for when planning on buying a new home. There are plenty of people out there looking to make a buck at someone's expense.

Make sure you check references on any builder or contactor you choose. I know of a builder who just left town, owning alot of money and not finishing projects he had already started.

with regards to scams, it is better to have a background check before finally purchasing a house. it is always good to be safe than sorry. there are a lot of reliable online investors though.
