Default Calabria - New hotspot for foreign investment?

Southern Italy is likely to be a major hotspot for foreign property buyers in the next few years, according to industry experts.

Such areas as Calabria have been picked up as attracting international property investors. I am not supprised this whole region is beautiful Tuscany always attracts the publicity and areas like this are left to be discovered.

However luckily for the area it is unlikely to become overdeveloped because local authorities have strict planning building controls in place.

As a result, Calabria could offer both lifestyle attractions and a sustainable, long-term investment.

As a price guide some areas have fully furnished properties on the market for about £60,000.

Noticed a lot of hype about Calabria being a property hotspot in the press recently not an area I m familiar with and then I see it mentioned on the BBC news website as a bit of a mafia strong hold.

Default Calabria

Hi Bob I live in Calabria near Reggio myself and my family have no problems here Calabria is very old fashioned everything is about good manners and respect (one of the reasons we left the UK) take it from me the Maffia are not interested in you besides name any town or city in the UK that does not have organised crime, there is no public drunkeness here, no gangs, my teenage daughters are perfectly safe to go out at night, the Calabrians are very warm friendly people, wine is fantastic, food is great, pace of life is slow 'piano piano' as they say around here!

Stop it Tony because I know what you are saying is right, only yesterday my father and son were walking the dogs only to be shouted at by some drunken yobs drinking at home
this was a six in a quiet area. I ve heard quotes that living in France is like it was here 50 years ago, I expect Italy might be the same.
With the onset of a recession here it makes me think that you have at least done the right thing. Tony enjoy the sunshine the wine and the food for all of us who are less brave.
