Default California?

With all the prices coming down and the high foreclosure rate, does anyone think California would be a good place to invest (I'm biased since I live here - but want to know what others think as well)..

A month or two back there was a big tv advertising campaign showing California encouraging us Brits to go and live and holiday there. It was fantastically shot and finished with a close up of Arnie.

From all accounts here hes been really good for Californian .
I think if you have good local knowledge that puts you in a good position to invest.

Since you're a local, you're the one with all the insider info. Share.

If you have the resources to take advantage of the low prices for homes, I would say go for it. California really is a great place to live, and as far as I can tell, the weather isn't changing anytime soon! The market will recover, and when it does, you will be in a great position to make a return on your investment.

California is way overdue for a huge earthquake. I like to play my bets safe, I'd pass of California real estate.

I am curious where you found these earthquake statistics, seeing as I live in California - could you provide me a link or something??

I'm a California woman through and through. All things go in cycles, and what comes, goes, and vice versa. I believe this is the greatest state (I was born here, remember). We have our problems, but it's still the best. The market may not be optimum at the moment, but it will be again. Now might be the time to get in a good deal!

Knock on wood, the earthquakes haven't been big in my area. Of course, they've been devastating in other parts of the state, but the most that happens here is maybe a vague feeling of motion, usually a bed bounce, or you look outside and see the pool water swaying. On really big ones, a few things might fall off a shelf. Last time that happened for me, though, I was in grade school (long, long, lonnnnng time ago).
