Default Which is better for dairy farming?

Anyone out there familiar with the dairy industry? If one wanted to start dairy farming would it be better to live in central PA or upstate NY? I know land is cheaper in NY, but I think they have higher property taxes/individual health insurance. Any thoughts?

Both PA and NY are top dairy-farming states in the US. I am not sure about the consideration for land cost to put up a dairy farm. But I just would like to suggest you check-out environmental regulations with regards to this industry. What's better option than to start it out right.

I do not expertise in the dairy section, however, I have lived in PA and the farms near the Amish communities were absolutely stunning, I would go back there with no hesitation. The grass is so green and the farming industry seems to be thriving. Not sure though about the competition, as there seem to be so many farms and cows just about everywhere!
