Default Colorado Springs - would you live there?

Does anyone have an opinion about Colorado Springs? I'm very curious about the locale. I've only passed through there once, but with the mountains, it seems like it might be a nice place to live. Any thoughts on this?

Colorado is a really great place for families to live. They have relatively low taxes, not much crime, and housing is affordable compared to job availability. It would be even more perfect if you were a skiier or hiker, since the trails do not get much better than those in colorado.

Thanks for the reply. I heard they don't really have many bugs in Colorado Springs. I've forgotten why. Can anyone verify that? I just hate pesky bugs!

I wouldn't mind it at all! I love the mountains, but my mom on the other hand...she says driving through mountains gets her nervous

lol I love the mountains but don't get to go much. Years ago, back in my college days, I would take a break from homework and just drive through the mountains. Talk about peace of mind and kicking back. Those were great days and a great stress relief!

I have a friend who lives in Colorado. One of the main issues that she has out there is that during the summer they often suffer from droughts. She does have several rain barrels in her yard to capture rain water so that she can later water her plants and trees, even so a couple of years back it was really bad and she lost quite a bit of vegetation.

I am not sure if Colorado Springs is effected as much as her area, however it may be something that you want to look into before you make your decision.

Good luck!

I couldn't even imagine having a drought, I never associated Colorado with that. Here in Michigan, we get plenty of precip, whether it be rain or snow

Wow. I've never associated Colorado with droughts. What part of the state does she live in? Thanks for the info!

lol I just said the same thing -- not associating CO with droughts. We have them every few years. I think there's a good shot we'll be in trouble this year or next because of all the fires we've had this summer combined with just an average winter so not a whole lot of run off.

My brother had a house built out there a few years ago with a view of Pike's Peak. Apparently he loves it but I haven't spoken with him much since he moved. He sent a pic of the house and it looked more like a chiropractic office, just not my taste at all, and that's fine. I've been there before though, and it is indeed a beautiful area!
