Default Homes near major bridges...

Would you purchase a home if it required you to cross a bridge daily to get around the area? I would, I'm not afraid of bridges or large bodies of water, not at all

I could care less. I actually like to see the sea below from a higher stand point. However, some people may be concerned either because they are afraid of heights or of a terrorist attack, so I could see a reason for not buying a home near a bridge.

This is going to be pretty hard to avoid if you live near a river, lake, or large body of water. I kind of think things like bridges add to the charm of a community, but if someone has a fear, that is a whole other story.

I would have no problem if I had to cross a bridge everyday - that being said, I would not want to live int he vacinity (1/4 mile) of that bridge, too much traffic!

Default Major Bridges

I live 10 miles from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel. It is 20 miles long with two underwater tunnels. While at first it used to scare me, after two years of crossing it I rarely give it a second thought.

I would not purchase the home. If the bridge is over water, there is always the possibility of flooding. If a lot of people must use the bridge to get around, getting stuck on it during and emergency is always a huge risk.

Default Bridges

The bigger the bridge the better. It is when you have a small bridge in the middle of nowhere you may run into problems with flooding and other disruptions.

Since most big bridges are over the sea, connect land masses across straits, and don't have residential neighborhoods as close to them, flooding might not concern as many people, but most bridges near residential areas are the smaller variety, where fluctuations in water level are a problem.

I would be safer to live near something the size of the Golden Gate bridge, because your home wouldn't be nearly as close to the bridge and the waterway it crosses!

I am not comfortable with bridges for we could never tell when the water would rise up.
