What is the best way to determine the age range of the people in a community you are thinking of moving to?

Your real estate agent will have all that information and it's readily available on the internet as a rule, too. Really brave folks can knock on doors, but that's not something I'd do today.

Yeah, I am half tempted to tell my associate to go and do that in the area where he wants to start a restaurant. The place he wants to open is really geared toward a specific age group and I can not figure out how to get a real picture of who is actually in this area.

Nothing beats observation. Spending time in the area will show you who frequents that location. You might try that, too. Just find a bench, sit, and watch. It's not scientific, but sometimes science isn't the answer to everything.

I actually just look up this info on the internet - you'd be surprised to how much information is found floating on the web.

There's a great site--- city.data or something like that which has amazing amounts of information on. I use it for research purposes. Complete city profiles.

While an agent can certainly help, visiting an area and talking with people is still the best way to get a feel for the place.

I think it is wise to do several observations, real time and in real life. Data is usually gathered at certain intervals and may miss tiny fluctuations that could make or break a business!

I think the best way to determine the age range of a certain community is to personally visit the place and observe the people around.
