I have a relative that was the victim of a rental scam. They were moving across the country and contacted a realtor in California, everything seemed ok. They had another relative go, meet up with the realtor, check out the property (which we later found out was their own home), and they did the transaction via email/fax for the deposits, first and last month rent, etc. They were mailed keys and told they could move in upon arrival. When they arrived the place was boarded up and the people were gone....
