Green home plans give away - FreeGreen
An American design firm hopes to prompt a boom in eco property building by offering up green home plans for free. FreeGreen said the idea was designed to make environmentally-friendly property affordable.
The company said it offers modern green designs, detailed construction documents, 3D renderings, and other features traditional sites “choose to skimp out on”.
Bosses said they are
“bringing their green plans to the masses by charging exactly what most builders and clients are willing to pay for house designs – nothing”.
FreeGreen plans to make its money by charging green product vendors, retailers, and other home building firms a performance fee for specifying their products and services in the home plans.
Based upon site user choices, a PDF of buildable architectural documents, product lists, and local contractors is put together and provided free for download. FreeGreen chief architectural officer Ben Uyeda said:
“We encourage users to submit feedback on our blog and even submit design ideas.
“Our team is working towards providing an open source platform that will allow the site’s online catalogue to grow.”
There are three designs currently available for download in modern and traditional styles. Uyeda is promising at least one new plan a month.
The new scheme could be a potential goldmine for property developers looking to build new homes aimed at eco-friendly families as a viable investment opportunity. New visitors to the site are encouraged to go on a virtual tour to learn about plans and products, and plans can be downloaded immediately.
