Dubai officials plan huge real estate database
August 6, 2008 by OPPE News
The Dubai Land Department is in the process of developing a vast database which will eventually cover the whole of the UAE.
High-profile meetings have already been held on the service, which would provide a central log open to officials, developers and property investment professionals.
Land data as well as all the relevant laws and regulations for each state would also be included on the system.
According to news agency WAM, a recent conference on the topic saw officials discuss methods of collecting data, conducting research and how best to unify and co-ordinate the database.
The report produced on Emirates Business 24-7 also said Abdul Bari bin Souqat, director of corporate partnership at the department, said the plan would be implemented in several stages.
As cited by WAM the first step will involve electronically linking all land and municipality departments, as well as other organisations related to land and property, followed by law unification. Further details of other meetings are expected to be announced in October.
The department deals with all legal matters related to property transfer in Dubai and is currently chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.
