Fears over the availability of utilities to the UAE’s soaring property portfolio have been eased by the smooth installation of basic services at a key site.
Al Hanoo Holding has completed work on AED 1.5 billion worth of water and electricity grids, gas pipes and communications for Emirates Industrial City.
The Sharjah-based project covers an area of 83 million sq ft and is a vast complex of logistics, industrial offices and residential amenities.
Concerns over supplies were raised in June when a senior government official expressed fears projects in parts of the Emirates could end up struggling due to planning shortfalls.
Although there has been little doubt over the Industrial City, Al Hanoo’s announcement will boost confidence in other building projects.
Chairman Sheik Abdullah bin Fahid Al Shakrah said:
“What is important is to make our clients as comfortable as possible – their satisfaction comes before profit.”
According to Gulf News, Hassan Abdullah Al Ghasyah, executive director of supply at the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA), said in June that construction in parts of the UAE was broadly “unplanned”, prompting utility worries.
