America’s top 25 hot spots for affordable homes have been revealed by CNN’s popular Money Magazine.
The news provider listed locations which see residents’ incomes go the furthest, upping the investment potential of the towns.
At number one on the list was Fort Smith, in Arkansas, where a home can typically be bought for around the $87,000 mark.
CNN says of the town:
“Three or four-bedroom houses hover around $200,000. Waterfront properties are pricier.
“A house with river frontage starts around $500,000 for a four-bedroom, three-bath home and can range into the millions.”
Des Moines, Iowa, came second, while Janesville, Wisconsin, was at number three on the list.
CNN Money also recently provided a run down of America’s best small cities, with Plymouth, Minnesota, coming out on top.
The chart praised Plymouth for its
“topnotch schools, good jobs, affordable housing, low crime, and active outdoor culture”.
BusinessWeek recently reported New York’s previously lively real estate market could be slowed, with constructions put on hold following the high-profile collapse of investment bank Lehman Brothers.
The magazine said some analysts claimed developers who want to build without first getting corporate commitments in place would probably have to hold back in the current climate.
