Property investment projects from across the Middle East are on display at an exhibition in Sharjah, UAE.
The emirate is hosting ACRES Middle East 2008 until Thursday, with thousands of people expected at the Expo Centre in the state.
Highlights include Al Hanoo Holding’s display of Al Nujoom Islands, the largest waterfront project in Sharjah.
Executives said the presence of the exhibition showed interest in the region’s real estate market was still strong, despite the global financial slow down.
Sheik Abdullah bin Fahid Al Shakrah, Al Hanoo chairman, said:
“The exhibition comes at a time when the global economy is falling apart; a time of recession. The mere fact that it is being hosted, however, confirms the strength of the Emirati economy.
“The exhibition also serves as proof of Sharjah’s potential to develop leading real estate projects.”
He added “a lot of attention” had already been directed at the company’s projects, which also include Emirates Industrial City.
Officials said investment in this scheme had already topped AED 5 billion 15 months before it is fully complete.
Sharjah is the third biggest of the seven emirates and covers around 2,600 square kilometres.
