Detached new homes for sale are still proving popular with UK buyers despite the downturn, a top developer has said.
David Wilson Homes said it had to sell a show home at one of its developments early after it attracted interest following an article in the local press.
The Scholars Grange development in Scraptoft, Leicestershire, has proved a hit with buyers looking for family homes, the company added.
After the show home on the site was sold early, executives were forced to move it to a new plot instead.
David Wilson sales director Philip Lacey said:
“The ‘Balshaw’ show home was definitely something special and we’re hoping that the brand new ‘Linford’ show home will prove to be just as popular.”
David Wilson is part of the Barratt Developments empire, which in a November release said marketing tactics had helped it take advantage of the autumn sales period.
The most recent site visitor figures from the firm are down 5.8 per cent compared to 2008, although since the start of September, levels per site were actually up by about 7.5 per cent on the comparable period.
