A Dubai property developer has announced it is to start the hand over of units in one of its most iconic projects. Hydra Properties said Hydra Village in Abu Dhabi had reached phase one completion and owners would take charge of their property in the second quarter of this year.

The real estate developer also revealed the excavation work for phase II is now 20 per cent complete and construction is progressing as planned. Hydra also announced it was committed to delivering the fully completed property scheme on schedule in December 2010.

Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, chief executive of Hydra Properties said: “We treat completing the project on time with as much regard as our customers do, and it is as much an achievement for us as it is a great convenience for them.”

Described as an eco-living real estate scheme, the ‘village’ will cover an area of almost 950,000 square metres and features 2,500 furnished villas plus residential property high-rises.

Residents will also get access to four mosques, schools, a clinic and retail property as part of an aim to make the entire real estate project self-sufficient.

Hydra was only established in 2006 but has quickly gone on to become one of the biggest names in UAE residential real estate.

It is also now developing property in Mexico, where it is building the ‘Hydra Waves’ project.
