A Florida real estate developer says its new projects are showing an upward swing in sales, bucking a trend of slowing transactions across the rest of the US.

Bonita Bay Group, a master plan property developer, says it has noted an increase of 58 per cent in residential sales from 2007 through 2008.

It said the high rises at Bonita Bay in Bonita Springs, plus schemes called Mediterra and TwinEagles in Naples, Sandoval in Cape Coral and Verandah in Fort Myers did particularly well.

These new real estate schemes totalled 258 transactions, topping the 2007 property sales total of 163, according to the company.

Vice president Gary Dumas said: “Despite the challenges of the economy, Bonita Bay Group proved that 2008 was a great time to buy a home in Southwest Florida.”

Mediterra still has new property on sale, with single family units available but limited.

At Bonita Bay, construction is also on schedule for an Autumn completion of Tavira, the fifth luxury high-rise development built by The Lutgert Companies.

The building was ‘topped’ in December, and furnished model real estate opportunities will open throughout 2009.

Bonita Bay Group is also still selling homesites in Brantley Oaks, Verandah, near Fort Myers, at about $215,750.

Elsewhere real estate is still available in the Mediterra scheme, with one property lot with lake view on sale for $364,900.
