Saudi property developer reaches 8 days per floor

abraj al hilal jeddah gateWorkers building one of Saudi Arabia’s most high-profile residential real estate projects have achieved a construction speed of eight days per floor, executives say.

Emaar Middle East said the rapid rate was being seen at Abraj Al Hilal, a tower homes project in the Jeddah Gate scheme.

The luxury real estate company also said the average of 7,000 man hours a day being put in at the site would help ensure the scheme was handed over on schedule in 2010.

Abraj Al Hilal is just one part of the vast Jeddah Gate real estate plan and features three towers containing apartment and penthouse homes.

Alaa Abdullah Saed, chief executive of Emaar Middle East, said: “The eight-day cycle achieved on the construction of Abraj Al Hilal is a landmark for us and one of the best construction progress reports in the Kingdom.”

He added the scheme has gained “strong investor response” from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region.

The Jeddah Gate real estate project is spread over half a million sq m, and will have 6,000 homes plus office and retail space.

The development covers two sites with one covering 413,000 sq m and based alongside King Abdullah Street in Jeddah and the second covering 140,000 sq m along Abdullah Al Suleiman Street.

Emaar, one of the giants of the Middle East real estate world, is also working on Al Khobar Lakes in Saudi Arabia, a multi-billion dollar luxury lake front homes development set on 4.3 million sq m.
