Burj Dubai construction work enters final phases

Burjdubai CC CREDIT ANDERS LAGERASConstruction work is entering the final phases at Burj Dubai, one of the UAE’s most iconic property schemes and the tallest man made structure in the world.

Last month contractors told Emirates Business that the final height of 818 metres had been reached ahead of an opening in September.

Gulf News now says engineers are putting the finishing touches to the top spire, which accounts for the last few metres of the massive tower and residential real estate development.

According to the paper, work on the interior of the property is also being fast tracked.

Part of the $20 billion Downtown Burj Dubai real estate scheme, property in the development includes infinity pools, floor to ceiling windows and access to an observation platform.

The progress of the project could come as a welcome boost to Dubai’s property sector, which has seen some other high-profile real estate schemes run into significant delays.

Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of developers Emaar, has previously said of the project: “In Burj Dubai we see the triumph of Dubai’s vision – of attaining the seemingly impossible and setting new benchmarks.”

News of the progress at Burj Dubai comes as MEED reports Meraas Development has put the brakes on two of its real estate projects in Dubai, including the 1-Dubai tower and a high rise office project on Sheikh Zayed.

Elsewhere other real estate schemes in Dubai are pushing ahead as normal with Deyaar recently announcing handover dates for seven schemes.
