Turkish property boost – Altinkum Didim Yacht Marina

altinkum turkey sxcProperty in one area of Turkey is about to get a lift thanks to the opening of a new £33.6 million ($49.7 million) marina.

The Altinkum Didim Yacht Marina will launch in May, featuring berths for more than 600 vessels plus space for yachts ashore and ferry links to Greek islands.

Based west of Altinkum, the development covers more than 287,000 sq m of land and also features restaurants and bars.

It seems set to up the value of homes in the region and could also spark new property developments.

According to the Move Channel, it could also open up the Didim region to a new market of tourism.

The marina has been built by Dogus Holdings, with executives saying they hoped it would lift the development and value of homes in the area.

A spokesman from the firm, quoted by the move channel, said: “Property in the Didim area, close to the marina is currently very affordable. A simple two bedroom apartment can be purchased for £30,000 ($44,421) to £45,000 ($66,649), but the growth trend in property prices means that you should expect to double your investment within the first five years, perhaps even sooner.

“This area will provide serious long term gains in property values for it is a perfect location for investors. There has never been a better time to invest in Didim property.”

Homes in the area could also get a lift thanks to plans to construct a golf course near to the marina, which is set to be completed in 2013 and already has planning permission from the Turkish government.
