Dandara Commercial Manager Invests In His Own Image - Hemel Hempstead
December 1, 2009 by OPPE News
With a £360million regeneration scheme promising to transform the future of Hemel Hempstead town centre by 2013, it is no surprise that some of the savviest housebuyers are looking to invest in their future here. For 31 year old Adam Corbett, working for the town’s most talked-about apartment scheme wasn’t enough; he decided to purchase an apartment there too.
Adam, who works as a Commercial Manager at Image, the former European headquarters of Kodak, which is now being transformed by Dandara in one of the first phases of regeneration that the town is seeing, saw this as the perfect investment opportunity. Having bought his first property in Wood Green four years previously, Adam decided that the inspired scheme and future vision for Hemel Hempstead had all the signs of a good investment.
Adam comments: “Having worked on the Image development since it started, over two and a half years ago, I have seen it go from strength to strength. I have also got to know the town extremely well during this time and there is a genuine feeling of excitement amongst its residents. We are on the brink of a new stage in the development of the town and although it will be a period of great change, I believe it will be a transformation for the good.”
Image has seen Dandara revamp the previously empty Kodak building, adding two levels to make it 22-storeys high, ensuring it continues to be a well known local landmark and a focal point for the innovative mixed-use development. Located on Station Road, Image combines new build and refurbishment and comprises a selection of one and two bedroom apartments and a series of retail units that will be home to small shops and cafes.
The development is centred round a landscaped piazza with a piece of specially commissioned public art at the heart of the space. A newly constructed footbridge will link the piazza to the recently created Riverside shopping centre.
Adam continues: “I bought a one bedroom apartment on the 18th floor and I’ve got a fantastic balcony that offers amazing views over the town centre and the countryside beyond. The high specification that Dandara offers is what you would expect to find in central London, you really couldn’t wish for any more, especially considering the value for money that you get here, even in comparison with neighbouring towns. The 22-storey glass tower is also a definite selling point – it is so eye catching and unique!”
Residents at Image will also benefit from a car club, a concierge service and a peak hours bus service to Hemel Hempstead station for the exclusive use of Image’s residents. Hemel Hempstead station is just 0.7 miles away, from where regular trains to London Euston station take approximately 26 minutes and trains to Milton Keynes take approximately 30 minutes.
Adam continues: “Hemel Hempstead has all of the elements of a small town, including a shopping centre, bowling alley, multiscreen cinema and a new indoor snow centre, yet it’s fantastic because you’re so close to the Chilterns when you want to escape to the countryside. It really does combine the best of both town and country life, with great commuter links to boot.”
Michelle Harris, UK South Sales Director for Dandara, comments: “Hemel Hempstead is becoming an increasingly vibrant town with a lot to offer everybody, particularly young professionals who are looking for a well-located base, with a convenient, yet smart apartment to come home to every day. The popular location and high quality specification of the apartments at Image are a huge benefit to residents like Adam, not just for convenience and quality of life, but also for the potential capital appreciation of the properties because of the huge regeneration that Hemel Hempstead will be seeing over the next four years.”
Prices at Image start from £150,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and £235,000 for a two bedroom. The show apartments are available for viewing, by appointment only, Monday to Friday between 10am and 5pm.
