Jamie Roberts to open Barratt’s Parc Tyn Y Coed 6th March

Palmerston 2JAMIE ROBERTS, Welsh international rugby player, will open a showhome with a difference at Barratt’s popular Parc Tyn Y Coed development in Bridgend on Saturday 6th March, 11am-1pm.
The three-bedroom Palmerston showhouse sports an environmentally-friendly interior with the inspirational design following an ‘Ethics meets Aesthetics’ concept.
Prospective buyers and rugby fans are invited to the opening of this impressive showhome, when there will also be an opportunity to have their photograph taken with the towering 6′ 4″ sporting hero and to quiz him about the current Six Nations Championship.

Adrian Bird, sales director at Barratt South Wales, says: “Parc Tyn Y Coed appeals to buyers who want quality homes with all the practicalities of modern living. When it comes to furnishing their new home, increasing numbers of young families and first time buyers tell us they’d like to do this in an eco-friendly way wherever possible. Our Palmerston showhome demonstrates that this can be done, without compromising on style.”

The furniture in the showhome has been made with sustainable materials such as reclaimed teak, natural driftwood and off-cuts of waste leather. The dinner service displayed on the dining table is made from recycled glass. The curtain rails are bamboo, one of the most sustainable and hard-wearing materials available. Highly attractive wallpaper, with natural stains providing colour, incorporates fine glass and a variety of natural elements for texture. The one hundred per cent cotton bed linen and all wool carpets are loyal to the organic credentials of the interior design.
Notable accessories include a clock featuring 1950s vintage ties, a mirror framed with old newspaper clippings, another mirror adorned with old cassette tapes, and scatter cushions fashioned from recycled jeans. Many of the objects, including wooden sculptures, are not just environmentally-friendly, but are economically-sound, having been purchased from Fairtrade suppliers.

The showhome includes a fully fitted kitchen with a family breakfast area at one end and French doors that lead out to the garden, a cloakroom on the ground floor and a family bathroom upstairs, and three well-proportioned bedrooms. Barratt has fitted a light monitoring system that switches the lights off automatically when people leave the house. Like all the homes at the scheme, the house has double-glazing and energy-efficient central heating throughout.
Parc Tyn Y Coed is ideally situated in the semi-rural area of Sarn, just off Heol Cwrdy, with beautiful countryside walks on the doorstep and the coast just a 20-minute car ride away. A four-bedroom Kingsbridge detached showhouse and a three-bedroom semi-detached Maidstone showhouse will also be opened on 6th March.
Prices for homes currently available start at £136,500 for a three-bedroom house. Barratt’s Head Start incentive is available on selected homes where first time buyers can pay 85 per cent of the price with an interest-free loan for the remaining 15 per cent for up to ten years. Current homeowners may wish to take advantage of Barratt’s Part Exchange scheme, where the housebuilder could purchase their existing home, allowing them to buy a brand new Barratt home.
