Over 8,000 homes to be finished at Dubai real estate scheme

jumeirah village Nakheel PRMore than 8,000 new homes will be completed over the rest of the year at a key Dubai real estate project, the scheme’s boss has said.

Marwan Al Naqi, general manager of the Jumeirah Village project, said about 8,196 homes in the development will be delivered by the end of 2009.

The official told Emirates Business the completed homes will involve a number of different styles of unit and would be delivered by a number of different providers.

Jumeirah Village is a planned community designed by Nakheel, which involves a multi-developer approach and is divided into two sections – north and south.

Quoted by Emirates Business, Al Naqi said: ” The total number of units Nakheel will hand over this year is 2,186, consisting of 576 one-bedroom townhouses, 362 two-bedroom townhouses and 1,248 two-bedroom villas.

“In addition to this, 6,000 units from third-party developers will come onto the market by the end of 2009.”

He also said the scheme could fare well in the current climate because it is aimed at mid-market buyers, and claimed the project had not been hit by the slump in the real estate market.

Among high-profile developers involved in the scheme is Damac, which is building Mediterranean-style homes in its Emirates Gardens 1 plan.
