Children prompt exodus to Chelmsford from London

09903 014Having children is a life changing experience and it often inspires couples to make another big change, by moving house to be closer to family. Ken Tooze, 37, his wife, Carol, 36, and their two young children recently relocated to Chelmsford from Earlsfield, South West London. Not only are the couple now closer to family members, but they also have the added bonus of a shorter, more convenient commute to work than when they lived in London.

Ken, a Business Development Manager based in St. Paul’s, London, comments: “When my wife and I had our second child, we decided that we didn’t want to bring our children up in London, as we felt we would all have a better quality of life in a smaller town with easy access to the countryside. As my brother lives in Chelmsford and I lived there several years ago, we decided that would be a good place to base ourselves.

“When we visited Clarion Gate, we were immediately impressed with the development, as it’s in a lovely, quiet part of town and the houses are really attractive and well built. It was much more cost effective for us to buy in Chelmsford than to buy in London, as we have been able to afford more for our money and we now have a four-bedroom, detached house, with a garden, which will be great for the children as they grow up. Chelmsford has plenty of parks and activities and it’s a really pretty town with lots of good restaurants and bars for us. We’re so happy here that we’re planning to stay for at least the next 10 to 15 years.”

Clarion Gate comprises an elegant collection of 153 traditional and contemporary styled one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom houses. In tune with the local surroundings, when complete the scheme will be laid out across two complimentary, yet distinctive areas called The Village Green and The Avenues built around a newly formed village green.

Annette Cole, Sales & Marketing Director, Crest Nicholson (Eastern) Ltd., comments: “Clarion Gate is proving very popular with families due to its prime location and the design and quality of the homes on offer. A brand new home is a great solution for a young family looking to re-locate, as it means no work needs to be carried out to the property, so moving in is very easy.”

Ken continues: “The added bonus for both myself and Carol is that, because both of us work in the City, our commute to work is now actually easier and quicker than it was when we lived in London. The move to Chelmsford has without a doubt changed all our lives for the better.”

Nearby Chelmsford Station provides fast and efficient services to London Liverpool Street taking approximately 35 minutes. Alternatively, the A12 is just a short drive from the scheme and provides direct routes south to the Capital and Colchester to the north.

Prices for a three bedroom house at Clarion Gate start at £285,000, four bedroom houses start from £359,950 and two bedroom apartments are from £185,000. For further information about buying a home at Clarion Gate please contact 0870 757 8184. Alternatively, visit the Crest Nicholson website at:
