Miller Homes East Midlands is celebrating after eight of its Site Managers have become NHBC (National Housebuilding Council) Accredited.
The successful eight, were presented with their accreditation awards by Richard Hartshorn, NHBC’s director for the east region at Miller Homes East Midlands’ headquarters at Pride Park in Derby.
The awards recognise the completion of an extensive online assessment through NHBC’s Learning Hub, and the eight will now be able to continue to use this e-learning resource to help maintain their accreditation.
The comprehensive assessment includes topics such as building regulation changes and vital improvements in health and safety regulations.
The NHBC is allowing the first 1,000 site managers to undertake the assessment free of charge, and Miller Homes East Midlands was keen to take advantage.
Miller Homes East Midlands production director Malcolm Ceney explained the importance of ongoing staff training.
He said: “We want our people to stay ahead of the required skills. We hold our own site management bi-yearly awards and perform well in the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards each year. This accreditation is just another way we can commit to staff development and ensure even higher quality construction standards for our customers.”
Miller Homes East Midlands site managers will be able to study online in the future to maintain status as NHBC Accredited Site Managers, according to Malcolm, and they will be continually sent new information by the NHBC team.
Richard Hartshorn, said: “In the current climate some builders are cutting back on training. This scheme is cost-effective, easy to access and great for builders to maintain the standard required in this ever evolving sector.”
