Builders gift to Gary Neville - You’ll never swim alone
If you’re a property developer with builder problems, spare a thought for Gary Neville. The Manchester United star has just found out that the builders of the swimming pool at his £6m, 12-bedroomed mansion gave him an added extra for his money.
When carrying out the tiling, brothers Brian and Gary Greer claim they left Neville a present in the form of a Liverpool scarf and a copy of the club’s fanzine buried under the pool.
Brian is quoted as saying:
“We rolled up The Kop magazine in a sealed plastic tube along with a Liverpool scarf to create our own Scouse time capsule. We buried it under the swimming pool floor before tiling over it. In future years, when his house is dug up, archaeologists will be able to see what a passion he had for the Red men.”
Although he and his brother have since taken a vow of silence, fearing for their jobs.
With no official word from Gary Neville, I think we can assume that, being famous for his dislike of LFC, he is fuming over the prank.
But this is only the latest problem to hit Neville’s seemingly cursed development project, he’s spent years renovating it and the work was due to be completed last June, only for builders to return in January to fix outstanding problems, and work is still on-going. News is also just in that the firm that built his house has gone into administration - blaming the mansion and cashflow problems on a £10m regeneration scheme in Glossop for the move.
My opinion on the whole matter…a picture paints a thousand words -
