Viva Las Dubai where you won’t lose your shirt

If you’re one for the bright lights of Vegas then a new destination could be on the cards (geddit?) for 2012.
Over the next four years, a 10km strip of desert in Dubailand is to be turned into the world’s largest hotel and retail development, styled on America’s playground.
The largest real estate developer in the Middle East and North Africa, Emmaar Properties, will be project managing the Bawadi scheme which has been described as the world’s most ambitious tourist, leisure and entertainment project.
There’s always Celine Dion
So, Black Jack fans, are you excited? Well, I should just mention one teeny tiny aspect of the new Vegas…..there’s no gaming licence. Which does somewhat spoil the whole Vegas comparison. But not everyone who visits Vegas goes for the slot machines (honestly. Haven’t you ever heard of Celine Dion? Tom Jones?) and if you’re investing in property in the UAE, the chances are that this is going to give tourism in the region a massive boost.
A city without sin
It’s set to be a pretty amazing destination and the website describes it as ‘one of the world’s most exciting entertainment and leisure destinations.’ It certainly sounds like it, with an amazing 60,000 rooms across 51 themed and un-themed hotels, including the worlds largest, concert halls, shopping malls, theaters, restaurants, museums, sports facilities and convention centres. Not to mention tall buildings and pretty lights, just like sin city, but without the sin.
As someone who is spectacularly unlucky at gambling it sounds great to me, all that glitz and glamour and no minus bank balance. Well, not through gambling anyway…..
