Dubai property investors told 'name that fountain'
We all know that property developers in the UAE don’t do things by halves but it’s not just property they have the wild visions for. It’s water too.
That’s right, this blog is about a fountain. Oh but not any fountain, no siree, the world’s most spectacular fountain, next to the world’s tallest building, Burj Dubai, and one of the world’s biggest entertainment and shopping complexes, the Dubai Mall. There’s definitely a ‘world’s biggest / tallest / bestest’ theme running here.
Water palava
It’ll be 275 metres in length, 25 per cent larger in area than the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and will shoot water over 150 feet into the air. Emaar boasts that the fountain will have over 6,000 lights and 50 colour projectors, with the water swaying to the melody of Arabic and international music.
Of course, residents in the sparkly new development of Burj Dubai are obviously short of a bob or two, so Emaar is giving them the chance to win Dh 100,000 (that’s over £13,000 to you and me) by naming the fountain in a competition which launched this week.
Brits are barred
Unfortunately - not that I would ever do this of course - you can’t sneak your entry in from the UK, they want your name, age, nationality and contact address and I’m fairly sure they’ll want to check out your pad in Burj Dubai before they hand it over.
And even if you’re a property investor over there you still need a valid UAE residency to put your two pence worth in. Instead, how about some suggestions on this blog, I’ll start with the Burj Belcher.
