The no cash, but carry, home investment opportunity

It’s been a weird month in America’s hectic homes for sale market. We’ve had expensive dolls houses with real homes thrown in free and a 99p-equivalent house flogged on auction site eBay.

The latest deal arguably goes one better – the house is actually completely free, but you have to carry it away yourself.

Jacquie Jones is quite happy to give away her three-bedroomed brick bungalow, based in Kaysville, Utah. You can’t stay though, as she wants to build new homes on the lot and would rather offer up the current home for free than see it demolished.

Built in 1910, the house also has a kitchen, front porch and a garage. Quoted by KSL.com, Ms Jones said:

“I’m kind of that old recycling mentality: Use what we have.”

$18,000 for removal

She has even gone as far as to get quotes from a home moving company which estimates whoever takes the property on had better have a minimum of $18,000 in order to get it removed from the foundations and shifted elsewhere. - Do they also supply a giant cardboard box with ‘fragile’ written on it with a black marker pen?

Discount without the garage

Also, are you allowed to perhaps be asleep in the house when it is moved? And can you buy it, rent it to tenants who can then be perhaps cooking dinner or watching TV when the foundations start to come out?

“If they don’t want to take the garage, it would probably cost less,” Ms Jones added, according to AP.
