Although it’s a buyer’s real estate market just about wherever you look at the moment, sellers have been very much in the headlines thanks to some ingenious methods of trying to shift unsold properties.

We’ve had American owners offering a house for free if someone buys its dolls house replica for the full value. In England we had the man who offered to chuck in a top of the range Lamborghini if someone snapped up his posh mansion.

Now there’s the ticketed competition again – not a new concept by any standards, except this one involves Lego bricks and a sizeable charity donation.

The prize is a gorgeous £600,000 home in County Down, Northern Ireland, which could be scooped for a paltry £35 ticket.

Alan Cooke is the man looking to sell, according to Belfast newspaper the News Letter.

‘Recent cooling’ in NI real estate market

Quoted by the paper, he said:

“We recently decided we would like to sell our house – but were concerned that we wouldn’t be able to, given the recent cooling in the Northern Ireland housing market.

“So that’s why we came up with the idea of a competition. If it works – we’ll not only be able to sell the house but also raise a lot of money for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.”

To be eligible all someone has to do is register online and guess how many Lego bricks are depicted in the illustration provided. The competition is limited to a maximum of 50,000 paid entries. Anyone wanting to try their hand can log on to www.comberhouse.com.
