Why give your money to an estate agent or realtor?

One of the most commonly overlooked aspects of selling property/real estate is the cost of sale. Focus is firmly placed on the selling price, while the cost of sale is ignored, and in particular – the agent’s fees. Agency fees can cut deeply into profit and bite harder still when profit is low or non existent.
Why use an agent?
In the old days – way back – before Google and Yahoo and the mobile phone – Estate Agents and Realtors were all the rage. If you had property for sale – they held all the aces, and provided a sales hub, where house hunters would gather and look over property details held in huge metal cabinets. Agents would dish out armfuls of property particulars on a variety of properties that the agent thought you might like – within your price bracket…happy days!
Agents had all the gadgets that sellers and buyers didn’t have such as phones, cameras, computers and sales staff. They delivered a service, and charged a hefty fee.
This is the modern world!
Times have changed – we all have mobile phones, digital cameras, video, broadband, and email. Today’s house hunter starts their property search from the internet, and expects instant results. Gone are the days of office hours and waiting for an agent to return from lunch – its all instant and now. If you can’t do it right now – we don’t want to know.
Self Service Advertising
Create your own adverts – upload images – write the sales copy – set the price and handle the sales enquiries – self service advertising is the way forward. It’s cheap, it’s effective and you keep more of your money. There’s no need to pay for services you don’t require.
Pay for the services you need and ditch the rest…
