Granted, it does have bay windows and a bit of Victorian character about it.
But is this fairly non-descript terraced house in Leytonstone, London, worth £850,000? It might be if you are into football or celebrity-related property investment homes.
For this humble pad was once home to footballer David Beckham, and the current owners are hoping to cash in big time after a researcher first revealed the famous heritage behind the house.
According to the Daily Mail, the current owners of the Norman Road house, Samira and Sulman Ali, had no idea of the property’s potential place in history until they got a knock on the door from Colin Evans, who was looking into the past lives of some of the area’s more famous residents and is now handling the sale.
From anonymity to £1 million in real estate
The paper reports an offer for £1 million has already come in from an Australian businessman. Quoted by the Mail, Mr Evans said:
“‘We’ve been for a meeting with some people at Chelsea and we’re meeting some more well-off people in Mayfair as well.
“To look at it, it looks like a humble house, but when you think about who has been in there I understand why it might go for that kind of money. It is the Brand Beckham selling it.”
According to the Mail, Evans confirmed Beckham once lived in the house as a baby by looking up details on his birth certificate.
Who once lived in your house?
Could this see property owners everywhere heading to the local registry office? If a humble terraced can be transformed into a £1 million home by the likes of Beckham, what price would a former Elvis or George Clooney residence fetch? Beats splashing out on a new kitchen to clinch that sale.
